May 2026 Exhibition Notes
16/03/2026
Advice for entries to the exhibition to be held on 16th/17th May 2026
FRAMED PAINTINGS
1. TWO OF YOUR FIVE works submitted to be hung should not have been exhibited at any previous Menston Arts Club exhibition. Any item over 40”(100cm) in either dimension should be advised to the committee in advance and handed in as early as possible.
2. Three or four paintings will be hung for the opening of the exhibition as space allows, a further painting may be submitted as reserve which will be hung if required over the weekend. The hanging team will try to hang as many pictures as possible in the given space.
3. Works can be in any recognised medium and must be original and executed by the artist named.
4. Lithographs and Etchings: each print must be numbered with the edition and its place within it expressed as a fraction, eg 11/25. If only one print exists, or each print is a unique image it should be marked ‘artist’s proof’.
5. Images which include ‘borrowed’ material must not infringe copyright and must display originality. Credit to the original artist should be clearly noted.
6. All works should be of good standard (with regard to the artist’s abilities) and framed to a professional standard with cord secured about 1/4 distance down from top edge. (Guidance sheet available). The back of the all entries should be marked with the title, artist’s name, medium and price, labels for this are available with the entry forms at club meetings.
7 Selling price should take into account 15% commission towards exhibition expenses, only one may be not for sale. PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE BY BACS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER THE EXHIBITION, PLEASE ENSURE THE TREASURER HAS YOUR BANK DETAILS.
PORTFOLIO
8. Portfolio entires are limited to 15, these should be mounted (if appropriate) and ready for framing. All items should fit inside the portfolio when closed (no box frames) and no glass (for safety reasons).
9. Portfolio lists are available at the club meetings, one copy of this list should be firmly attached inside the portfolio, the second copy should be placed loose in the portfolio with the entry fee of £2.
